Challenge
Enable a cohort of senior leaders from South Africa's transport sector to benchmark how two distinct global markets are using innovation, technology and sustainability to shape the future of mobility, transport infrastructure and global connectivity, and identify approaches with potential relevance to the South African context.
Our Approach
Working collaboratively with our executive education partner, we shaped a bespoke Business Immersion Experience for the same cohort of senior leaders, delivered across Mexico and China in two stages as part of a broader executive development programme.
Across Mexico City and Shenzhen, we identified and recommended relevant organisations, industry leaders and engagements that enabled delegates to explore sustainable urban mobility, integrated public transport, electric vehicles, aviation, maritime logistics, data-driven transport planning, smart ports and connected vehicle technologies.
The two distinct innovation ecosystems provided complementary perspectives on the technologies, infrastructure and approaches shaping the future of mobility, enabling delegates to build on their learning across both international experiences.
Impact
Across the two immersions, delegates benchmarked how two distinct global markets are responding to the future of mobility—from sustainable urban transport and electric vehicles to intelligent logistics, smart ports and data-driven transport systems.
The comparative experience enabled the cohort to identify practical lessons around technology adoption, infrastructure integration, sustainability and public-private collaboration, while considering how relevant global innovations and approaches could be adapted to the realities and priorities of South Africa's transport sector.
